This Needs to Stop

Yesterday I was really upset at almost everyone in my whole school.

At the beginning of this year a new kid came, and he didn't quite fit in. People were picking on him from day one.

They made fun of the way he talked. How he sings. His intelligence.

And he wouldn't always have something to say to them that day. It's hard to think of bitchy comebacks on the spot. So a couple days would go by until he would go up to the 'bullies' and cuss them out.

Of course these popular guys who pick on him would be all offended, "WTF?" and act like they didn't do anything- that they don't understand why in the world this kid is upset at them.

What these mean popular guys don't know- or care about- is that this kid has one of the worst home lives. He comes from crappy parents, and now he comes to a crappy school. He can't get out of negative situations.

The other day this kid posted an angry Facebook status about one of his bullies. He was angry. He was tired of being hurt. But as a result, the whole school got mad at him. Everyone around me is siding with the bullies.

They say he should've handled it another way. I'm not making excuses for him, but he's not a very strong kid at all. If these other guys ganged up on him, he'd have some broken bones. Yes, the status was immature, but that was his breaking point. These other boys drove him to his fricking breaking point! And they are the ones mad at him!!!!!

What's wrong with this? Why do people have no compassion??

I walk down the halls and hear people making fun of him. For his "un-masculinity", for his not-the-greatest singing.

And I wonder why. WHY? Why do people feel the need to belittle others? Why do people not empathize with this kid? Why are they mad at him? Why do they even care to think about him to the point of everyone talking? To some people, he hasn't done anything at all, yet they still are against him.

And I wonder why I seem to be the only one that cares for him.
